Homenetmen
History and Mission The Homenetmen is a non-profit organization founded more than 85 years ago in Constantinople by Shavarsh Krisian, Hovhannes Hintlian and Krikor Hagopian. The mission of the Homenetmen is to promote physical, moral and psychological education outside the school environment. In addition, perpetuation of Armenian culture and heritage is a primary objective, while preparing the youth to assume roles as upstanding citizens within their respective countries and communities. These objectives are accomplished through Scouting and Athletic programs, which provide numerous activities and events throughout the year. The organization website is: www.Homenetmen.com
Scouts The Homenetmen Eastern USA provides more than 500 scouts the opportunity to learn about themselves as Armenians, while developing in each individual a sense of social and moral responsibility. The program is developed and implemented by a Scout Council, appointed by the Regional Executive. The scouting program encompasses the following areas: · Seminars on scouting and Armenian-related topics · Camping trips · Field trips to museums and amusement parks The scouting program is supplemented by illustrated manuals written in the Armenian language. Following the completion of each educational manual, a final exam is administered, and those who pass receive the appropriate badge and certificate.
