                                                        ARAKELIAN, LUCY (VARTANIAN), 88, of North Providence, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Golden Crest Nursing Centre in North Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Archie Arakelian. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Dakes and Hripsime (Hahigian) Vartanian. Lucy was a dress maker and worked at the former Pawtucket Dress Company for many years before retiring. She was an active member at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church of Providence and was a member and past president of the Armenian Relief Society "ANI" Chapter. Lucy was the devoted mother of Kenneth S. Arakelian and his wife Kathryn of Kingston and Jeffrey P. Arakelian of Avon, CT; loving grandmother of Amy, Alyssa, Jordan, Austin and Adam Arakelian; and dear sister of Moorad "James" Vartanian and his wife Marie of Cranston and the late Osky Cascone. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in Sts.                                                         MAHDESIAN, AVEDIS "AVI", 84, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Nevart "Rose" (Alexanian) Mahdesian. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harry and Yeghsig Mahdesian. Mr. Mahdesian was an accountant and worked for Wilson & Company in Providence and later at Greylawn Foods in Cranston before retiring. He was a U.S. ArmyKorean War veteran. He was an active member at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher; a member of the Armenian Masonic Degree Team; and a past member of Armenian Youth Federation of America. Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Gregory A. Mahdesian of Cranston, Dianne E. Balasco and her husband Lenny of Providence, Tanya M. Mahdesian and her husband Jeff Simmons of Greenville and Paul A. Mahdesian and his wife Kimberly of Warren; loving grandfather of Marc, David, Avedis, Naomi and Sarah; and dear brother of Marion Chakoian of Lincoln.                                                         Oppie Bedrosian (ASADOORIAN), 85, of Cushing Rd., Warwick, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at RI Hospital - Jane Brown Unit in Providence. She was the beloved wife for 61 years of Peter "Doc"Bedrosian. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Donig and Satenig (Melkonian) Asadoorian. Oppie was a 1947 graduate of Bryant College and was Vice President and Secretary of the former Narragansett Screw Company in Providence for 40 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Sts. Vartanantz Church Ladies' Guild and a member of Armenian Youth Federation of America. Besides her husband, she was the devoted mother of Donna E. Adam and her husband Kenneth of Cranston and Jean Bilzerian and her husband Barry of Worcester, MA; loving grandmother of Rachel and Peter Adam and James Bilzerian; and dear sister of the late Paul Asadoorian and Dr. Peter Asadoorian.                                                         ROUPEN ZEYTOUNDJIAN 4/10/1936 - 1/2/2012 75, of Wellington, Florida, formerly of Governor St., Providence, RI, passed  away Monday, January 2, 2012.  He was the beloved husband of the late Mary  (Ferris) Zeytoundjian and cherished companion of Mary L. Clifford of Wellington.   Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the devoted son of the late Khacher and Anna (Borzakian) Zeytoundjian.
                                                        Roupen was a commercial air conditioning pipefitter for many years before
                                                        retiring.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of AMVETS; DAV; Veterans
                                                        of Foreign Wars; American Legion; Bektish Shriners; Elks; Fraternal Order of
                                                        Eagles; Overseas Lodge #40 Masons; Valley of Nashua – 32 degree; Armenian
                                                        Revolutionary Federation; and United Association Pipefitters Local 537.
                                                        Besides his companion Mary, Roupen is survived by his dear sister Shake
                                                        Khatchadurian, loving niece Nanor Khatchadurian and loving great-niece Angelee
                                                        Jimenez all of Glendale, California.

(KRIKORIAN), 42, of Jewell St., Providence, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at RI Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of Eddie Jackson. Born in Iraq, she was the beloved daughter of Haykas and Mary (Kanishian) Krikorian of Providence. Anna was an assembler at Smith & Nephew, Inc. in Mansfield, MA. She was a member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church of Providence and a member of Homenetman. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves three children, Edward, Madelynn and Anthony Jackson; her grandson Christopher; and four brothers, Christopher Krikorian of Cranston, Ohannes Krikorian of Warwick, Krikor Krikorian of Providence and Shant Krikorian of North Providence.                                                         | Visit Guest Book KANARIAN, SHAHEN 89, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Life Care Center in Attleboro. He was the husband of Sara (Hagopian) Kanarian to whom he was married 64 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Stepan and Heropsime (Halagian) Kanarian. He had lived in Rehoboth since 1956. Mr. Kanarian worked for the Farber Co. for 50 years. He graduated from Pawtucket High School, class of 1939, and was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater and Southwest Pacific on the USS Stockton 646 and the USS Cross 448. He was awarded 3 Bronze stars. He was a member of the VFW Post 02045, American Legion Post 302, Charter member of the U.S. Navy Memorial and National World War II Memorial, the Tin Can Sailors, and a 50 year member of the Jenks Masonic Lodge. He served as President of the Rehoboth PTA Council and was a 10 year member of the Rehoboth Planning Board, serving as Chairman for 2 years. He was also a delegate to the Southeastern Regional Planning Economics Development District and on the committee for the 325th anniversary for the town of Rehoboth. Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Linda Berberian and her husband Archie, Janice Noble and her husband Russell, and Jean Kanarian Hagen and her husband Nathan; six grandchildren, A.J. and his wife Toni, Alex and his wife Sheri, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Shahen and Nazeli; three great grandsons, Tyler, Kyle and Anthony. He was predeceased by two sisters; Gertrude Kaloustian and Irene Aharonian and two brothers; Paul and Charles Vasken Kanarian. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M in St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will be in Rehoboth Village Cemetery.                                                         Lucia Tamamian (HOOGASIAN) 104, of Providence and formally of Pawtucket died Tuesday at Roger Williams Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harry Tamamian. Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Elia and Akabe (Hekimian) Hoogasian and Mother of the late Armen Tamamian. Mrs. Tamamian was a Registered Nurse working in the Providence area for several years and graduated from the former RI Hospital School of Nursing Providence, Class of 1932. Later she was employed by the Kelly Girl Agency. Lucia enjoyed playing the game of Pachisi with her friends even though she was the Champion. Surviving are one sister Bertha Scully of Seekonk, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. Lucia was the sister of the late Isabel Hoogasian, Easter Manian, Rose Seropian, Sidney Hoogasian and Sable Hoogasian. A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00am in the CHEETHAM MORTUARY 1012 Newport Avenue Pawtucket. Visitation will be from 9:30am 10:30am. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Ronald was an International Coordinator at Johnson & Wales University before retiring. He was a past member of the Board of Trustees and former Sunday school teacher at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church; a member of Homenetmen; and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Besides his wife and mother, he was the devoted father of Ronald Thomas and his wife Tatjana of Scottsdale, AZ; loving grandfather of Justin and Julian; and dear brother of George Tomasian, Jr. of Pawtucket, Deborah Magnan of Warwick and Elizabeth Monteiro and Ruth Moynihan, both of Cranston.                                                         MICHAUD, DIANE A. (ADOIAN) PTA, 60, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 31, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Coventry. She was the beloved wife of Raymond Michaud; beloved daughter of Ann (Bedrossian) Adoian and the late Charles Adoian Sr.; loving mother of Katie Michaud and Sara Blessing and her husband Adam; devoted grandmother of Owen Blessing and sister of Charles Adoian Jr. and Larry Adoian. Diane was employed as a physical therapy assistant at the Oak Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bayada, and a former employee of Lepre Physical Therapy. She was a member and past president of the Club Frontenac Auxillary, and a summer resident of Roy Carpenter's in Matunuck where she enjoyed going to the beach. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:45am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a service in St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence at 11am.
